Remington PG9100 | My Short Review

To be honest the Remington PG9100 is one of my favorite multipurpose trimmers. In this short review I will explain why, I will tell and show you my most loved features and which parameters were disappointing to me.

Remington PG9100 | My Short Review

If I was to determine what category the Remington PG9100 fits in, I would say it is a multigroomer.

The kit consists of the trimmer itself, 8 fixed comb attachments, 1 adjustable comb for stubble, a great (in my opinion) foil shaver and a narrow blade for beard details, possibly nose or ear hair removal.

The general ergonomics is just fine for me.

The Remington PG9100 is not too loud, the vibrations during operation are ok for me.

The shape of the handle as you can see is not super-ergonomically curved (as in some other trimmers), but I had no problems with that.

The front panel is made of plastic with polished finish.

The back side of the handle is kind of “rubbery”, meaning a matt finish with good grip.

Overall experience regarding ease of use is good for me.

P.S. I like the retro-style on/off switch.

The main blade is made of stainless steel and belongs to the “T-blade” type of blades.

It requires regular oiling to ensure seamless performance in the long run.

You have to bear in mind that if you have recently used a beard trimmer with a standard blade (meaning 30-35 mm wide), you will have to get used to this T-blade (approx. 38 mm wide).

It requires a bit of a different technique or approach.

In my case no problems at all, I have figured out how to operate this quite fast.

You have to know that the system of mounting the blade on the trimmer is a bit different from what you may be familiar with in many trimmers on the market.

In Remington PG9100 Heritage in order to take the blade off of the trimmer you have to press the back side of the head/blade and push it.

This way the blade will move and you can slide it off the trimmer.

So no buttons or pushing the front side of the blade here.

The second blade is the narrow one (6 mm) and it is meant to be used to remove unwanted hairs from nose and ears.

It is also great for crafting some fancy beard styles where you need a tool to work in small areas.

Don’t forget to oil them too from time to time (if you use them regularly).

Let’s take a look at the length setting attachments (combs) in Remington PG9100 Heritage.

There are 8 fixed combs and 1 adjustable one.

Fixed combs (3 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm, 22 mm, 25 mm).

The adjustable comb for stubble: (1,5  mm, 2 mm, 2,5 mm, 3 mm, 3,5 mm, 4 mm, 4,5 mm a 5 mm).

As for the 8 fixed combs - yes, they are completely made of plastic.

Nevertheless I have to admit that they are holding on the blade pretty well, no annoying looseness we know from many cheap multipurpose trimmers.

Regarding the adjustable comb for stubble, it feels a bit cheap and “plasticky” for me.

Moreover you don’t hear the “clicks” when you turn the length setting wheel.

I would appreciate more quality attachment for stubble in such a multigroomer, but it is only my own opinion.

And finally the foil shaver attachment.

This is probably the most “WOW” thing in the Remington PG9100 Heritage for me.

I SIMPLY LOVE IT !!!

I mean comparing it to the rest of multigroomers, where the foil shaver is available as an attachment to the main trimmer, the unit that comes with this model is in my opinion OUTSTANDING!

It is the widest foil shaver attachment I have ever found in multipurpose trimmers on the market so far.

This way the shaving is much more efficient meaning it takes a lot less time.

I was able to shave my entire neck in like 2-3 minutes.

The closest competition I have tested is the Babyliss MT726E or Babyliss MT727E (I have tested both).

They have narrower foil shaver attachment, but still wide enough to give me the acceptable shave (in terms of quality and efficiency).

The foil shaver attachments in Philips or Braun multigroomers are (in my opinion) no match for the unit you get in the Remington PG9100.

Remington PG9100 Review Summary

To sum it up I can say the following:

  • Good main blade (T-blade shape)
  • Length setting combs are “plasticky” but sit rather firmly on the blade
  • The adjustable comb for stubble could be better - here it is very basic and feels low quality (again - it is only my opinion)
  • Narrow blade for nose, ears and styling beard details is very ok
  • And the cherry on top - the foil shaver attachment - I simply LOVE IT. Compared to the units you get in competing multigroomer, the one in Remington PG9100 is superior in terms of quality and the efficiency of shaving
