#### Philips OneBlade First Shave QP1324/20

Afetr several uses on my medium coarse beard I rate this model at 3,5 stars out of 5.

****What I like:**

- The blade. Philips OneBlade First Shave QP1324/20 is equipped with a blade that is very similar to a standard OneBlade blade, but the main area (that touches your skin) is made even more “glidable” :) Well, I didn’t notice any difference and in my opinion First Shave and a standard OneBlade blade glides on the skin the same way.
- Edging. Thanks to the blade you can conveniently style sharp edges of sideburns, neck line, cheek line etc.
- Safe. I really love all Philips OneBlade trimmers (even the weaker ones, like this Philips OneBlade QP1324/20), because on my rather sensitive skin I have always managed to achieve a really good shave and minimal (if any) skin irritation.

****Not bad:**

- For less demanding users, especially young men looking for a tool to manage first beard growth, the Philips OneBlade First Shave is in my opinion this “OK” tool. It is not as powerful as the higher models, but you get the job done.

****Possible weak points:**

- The battery and motor in this trimmer are significantly weaker compared to most of the beard trimmers on the market. If you are looking for a decent tool for a full beard maintenance, don’t pick this one.
- Only for shaving and edging. There are no guards in this model that would allow you to manage even a simple stubble.

The handle is really compact.

# Philips OneBlade First Shave

An Interactive Buyer's Guide

## Is This the Right Shaver for You?

The OneBlade First Shave is specifically designed for beginners and those with sensitive skin, prioritizing a safe, nick-free experience over a super-close shave. However, this comes with major trade-offs, especially in battery performance. This guide will help you decide if it's the perfect starter tool or if you should consider an upgrade.

[Read the Final Verdict](#recommendation) [Compare All Models](#comparison)

## Core Technology: Safety First

The OneBlade's design is a masterclass in safety. It combines several features to protect your skin, making it ideal for first-time shavers. Click on each feature to learn more about how it works.

🛡️

### Dual Protection System

A protective plate and rounded blade tips create a barrier between the cutter and your skin, preventing nicks and cuts. It's designed \*not\* to shave too close, ensuring comfort.

✨

### Anti-Friction Blade

The "First Shave" model includes a unique blade coated with micro-glass beads. This reduces friction, helping to prevent razor burn and allowing for a smooth glide, even without foam or water.

🔄

### Contour Following

The shaving head pivots to maintain constant contact with the skin, easily adapting to the curves of your face like the jawline and neck for a more comfortable and efficient shave.

↔️

### Dual-Sided Blade

You can shave in either direction—up or down. This simplifies the process and makes it easy to create precise edges for sideburns or beard lines.

💧

### Wet & Dry Use

The device is 100% waterproof (IPX7). Use it for a quick dry shave, with foam or gel, or even in the shower. This also makes it incredibly easy to clean—just rinse it under the tap.

🧔

### No Combs Included

This is a critical point. The "First Shave" kit is for clean shaving only. It does not include any trimming combs for maintaining stubble or a beard, unlike other OneBlade models.

## The Big Trade-Off

The OneBlade First Shave's biggest weakness is its power system. To keep the initial cost low, it uses older battery technology. This creates a significant inconvenience that you must be prepared for.

### 8-Hour Charge Time

A full charge requires plugging it in overnight. It cannot be used while charging.

### 30-Minute Run Time

You get only 30 minutes of use. There's no low-battery light, so it can die mid-shave without warning.

## The Voice of the Customer

The OneBlade is overwhelmingly well-received by its target audience, but the same praises and criticisms appear consistently. Here's a summary of what real users are saying.

### Aggregate Customer Ratings

Common Praise 👍 Common Criticisms 👎

#### Perfect for Beginners & Teens

Parents and teens alike praise its simplicity and safety, calling it the ideal "starter shaver" that removes the fear of learning to shave.

#### No Nicks, Cuts, or Irritation

Users with sensitive skin call it a "game changer." The promise of a comfortable, pain-free shave is the most consistently praised feature.

#### Convenient & Versatile

The ability to shave wet or dry, with or without foam, is a major plus. Many also report using it successfully and safely for body grooming.

#### Battery & Charging Time

By far the biggest complaint. The 8-hour charge for 30 minutes of use is called a "major design flaw" and a constant source of frustration.

#### Not a "Close" Shave

While intentional, users expecting a baby-smooth finish are often disappointed. It leaves a fine layer of stubble, which is a deal-breaker for some.

#### Cost of Replacement Blades

The ongoing cost of blades is a common concern. Many find them "expensive" and a significant factor in the product's long-term value.

## OneBlade Family Comparison

The First Shave is the entry point to a larger ecosystem. For a small price increase, other models offer significant upgrades in battery life and versatility. See how they stack up.

## Final Verdict & Recommendation

**You SHOULD buy the OneBlade First Shave if:** You are a parent buying for a teen's very first shave, where safety and low initial cost are the only priorities. Or, if you have extremely sensitive skin and are willing to tolerate the poor battery life for an irritation-free shave.

**You should AVOID it and UPGRADE if:** You are almost anyone else. For just $15-$25 more, models like the [OneBlade 360 Face or Face + Body](#comparison) offer vastly superior battery life (Li-Ion, 1-hour charge), more versatility with included combs, and a much better long-term value. The upgrade is the more logical investment for anyone whose grooming needs might evolve beyond a simple clean shave.
