Philips Beard Trimmers Hands-On: Solid Torque, But One Major Red Flag
In May 2026 no of Philipses men's grooming tools offered the USB-C charging capability

In this roundup, we put the Philips men's grooming lineup to the test, spanning over 20 different models including the OneBlade and the Multigroom series.

Here is how they actually perform on the bench:

  • Performance: The cutting technology is undeniably solid. The blades offer a reliable no tugging/pulling experience, which is critical for preventing skin irritation and razor bumps. The motors deliver high torque capable of heavy bulk removal, though they fall short of a true zero-gap finish for precision line up / edging.
  • Ergonomics & Convenience: They feel balanced in the hand, but convenience is where the user experience completely falls apart. Despite massive community demand, Philips refuses to adopt universal USB-C charging.
  • Battery Life & Hardware: The internal lithium-ion batteries hold an adequate charge, and many models feature IPX7 waterproofing. However, being shackled to a proprietary charging brick negates the portability of the hardware.

My Verdict: These tools are highly capable for everyday thick beard maintenance and fast body grooming.

However, the blatant refusal to include USB-C charging is an unacceptable bottleneck for the modern, fast-paced guy.

Verdict: Avoid. Until Philips updates their hardware with universal USB-C ports, your money is better spent on brands that respect your time and your travel bag.
