Braun King C. Gillette Style Master review

Braun King C. Gillette Style Master
After several uses I rate teh Braun King C. Gillette Style Master at 3,8 out of 5 stars.
Here's why:
What I like:
- Compact. What I really like about the Braun King C. Gillette Style Master is its compact size. Moreover the main part of the handle is covered with some kind of rubber, which significantly improves the grip.
- Simplicity. This is a very simple set. You get a trimmer, 3 pieces of guards and a charging cable. Good choice for all fans of minimalism, I guess 🙂
- Blades lifespan. Braun XT Series trimmers are equipped with blades that could provide good shaving experience (aka they stay sharp and efficient) for even 6 months. Nice score compared to Philips OneBlade shavers with about 2 months of a blade lifespan. Among all hybrid trimmers / shavers only Remington Omniblade and Rowenta Forever Sharp offer blades that possibly can last for even 5 years (assuming the user will take proper care of them).
Not Bad:
- The blade. I don’t know why, but all Braun XT Series trimmers I have tested sometimes give small snugs, meaning they tend to pull my beard in rare cases. I guess partially it could be my fault due to improper shaving / trimming technique, I think sometimes I move the blade over the skin too fast. But generally the shaving quality is much comparable to what I get with Remington Omniblade trimmers, maybe Philips OneBlade shavers tend to shave a tiny bit smoother in my case.
- Fully waterproof. Personally I do not use trimmers or shavers in the shower, this is a nice feature for all who are used to using grooming tools in the bath or who like wet shaving. After the shave you can conveniently rinse the whole trimmer under running water.
Possible weak points:
- For stubble only. Overall the Braun King C. Gillette Style Master trimmer will be useful for maintaining stubble and a very short beard only. There are only 3 simple guards in this set that will let you trim your beard at 1 mm, 3 mm and 5 mm.
- The comb guards. They are quite fragile in my opinion and they feel “plasticky”. I also have some minor troubles with taking the bomb off the blade.

What are users saying about the Braun King C. Gillette Style Master shaver?
The Braun King C. Gillette Style Master trimmer generally receives positive reviews, especially for its value and ease of use.
However, some common complaints also emerge.
Pros:
- Good Value for Money: Many consider it an excellent budget-friendly option, offering a lot of features and performance for its price point.
- Easy to Use and Clean: The trimmer is generally found to be intuitive to operate, with a simple on/off switch and easy-to-swap attachments. The head and blades are washable, making cleaning straightforward.
- Versatile for Beard Trimming and Styling: It's well-regarded for maintaining stubble, short to medium beards, and for edging and shaping. The ability to use it without a comb for precise lines is a plus.
- Waterproof: It's fully waterproof, allowing for convenient in-shower use and easy rinsing.
- Lightweight and Compact: Its design makes it suitable for travel.
- Self-Sharpening Blades: The blades are designed to stay sharp for a long time, reducing the need for replacements.
Cons & Common Complaints:
- Long Charge Time: While battery life is excellent, the charging time (up to 8-10 hours) is often cited as a significant drawback.
- Limited Length Options/Attachments: The "Style Master" version typically comes with 3 fixed comb attachments (1mm, 3mm, 5mm), which some users find too restrictive for more varied beard styles or longer lengths. (Note: The "King C. Gillette Beard Trimmer" version offers more length settings (up to 21mm) with its comb system).
- Not Ideal for Very Close Shaving or Longer Beards: While it can trim stubble and short to medium beards effectively, some users find it doesn't give a perfectly smooth, clean shave like a traditional razor. It may also struggle with very long or thick beards, sometimes leading to patchy results or pulling.
- Power/Sharpness Concerns (for some): A few users have reported it feeling underpowered or struggling with thicker stubble/beards, requiring multiple passes.
- Lack of Storage Accessories: Many users wish it came with a hard case or a better storage pouch for the trimmer and its attachments, especially for travel.
In conclusion, the Braun King C. Gillette Style Master trimmer is often seen as a solid, affordable option for daily stubble and beard maintenance, particularly praised for its impressive battery life and ease of cleaning.
However, users seeking a wider range of length settings or a very powerful trimmer for extensive beard grooming might find it a bit limited.
